Behind the Learning: Episode 2

At Zoo-phonics, we believe that some of the most meaningful learning happens when children are given the opportunity to share a piece of their world with others. One of the ways we do this is through our much-loved Show and Tell time.
Show and Tell is an important opportunity for students to bring something to Zoo-Phonics and introduce it to their friends. Each school may have a dedicated day when students can bring anything they choose to share with the class. During circle time, the children ask their classmates, ‘What did you bring for show and tell?’ Show and Tell provides students with the opportunity to freely share their thoughts, formulate their own questions, and learn more about what their friends like.
During Show and Tell, we strongly encourage students to share their weekend experiences at school, including pictures, books, crafts, drawings, and toys they played with, so the class will have a chance to ask new questions and learn more about each other. Students are allowed to share their Show and Tell during free play time after lunch or during park time on rainy days. While some students may worry about their things getting damaged, we use Show and Tell to remind children to use them all gently and with respect for their peers. While Robby friends may need parental support in remembering to bring their Show and Tell to school, older friends are encouraged to choose their Show and Tell and put it in their bags on their own. We look forward to seeing a wide array of toys and hearing the children excitedly share about what they have brought to school.
These simple moments of sharing remind us that learning goes beyond the classroom—it lives in the joy, confidence, and connections our children build each day. We feel so proud watching them grow, one story at a time. Thank you for being part of these special moments.
